Thanks for the Mammaries

In just one more week, I will have been breastfeeding for 9 months. Considering I have far surpassed my initial goal of 6 months, it feels like quite the achievement. The best part is that I see no reason why we can't make it three more months to my ultimate goal of 1 year. Perhaps even a bit longer. If you would have asked me 8 months ago, I would have laughed at the notion that I'd make it this far.

But there have been some consequences. Namely the aesthetic nature of the tatas.

My girls look fantastic when they're engorged with milk and they nearly cut off the circulation to my neck. They don't feel all that great but they sure do look good enough to be considered a work of art. At least the work of an acclaimed plastic surgeon (look, no scarring!). But after Nate drains them, they resemble donut sticks with shriveled raisin nipples. Not the nice, yummy round doughy donuts stuffed with the filling of your choice. We're talking the thin, elongated ones. With a texture similar to a cruller if you factor in the lovely, silver stretch marks on the sides. Get the picture? It's not a pretty sight.

I imagine that as finger foods become the primary source of nutrition in Nate's diet and my supply dwindles, the funbags are going to get even less "fun". How disappointing.

You see, before I conceived my darling son, I was a member of the IBTC with an A cup. A full A but an A nonetheless. Once I became pregnant, to my delight, they blossomed to a B cup. And when my milk came in, they grew to a C cup. I was ecstatic with my newfound curves. Once my supply regulated, I went back down to a full B. And that is where I remain today. Happily.

I was hoping I could hang onto the surplus I've been granted but I'm afraid my cans will be shelved once the dairy section closes shop.

I guess I should fluff the dirty pillows for the next few months while I still own them.

*Sigh*

My breast haven't been the same since breastfeeding.... sigh... I used to have nice D cups and now they are Cs... Not even on the full end. I guess it is the price we pay for our babies health. It is amazing to me that you are able to breastfeed so well. Most people that I know including me that went through infertility and pregnancy loss have had a very hard time breastfeeding. I had to pump every two hours, even after feeding my son, supplement, and take pills to help with supply. I could only do all of that for 6 months, it was so much work.

My tatas have definitely taken a lot of abuse over the past 4+ months. They're saggier, some silver stretch marks... they're just not youthful and perky anymore. The sight of me topless is a bit sad. :(

At least you enjoyed having bigger boobs over the past year plus. I have always been - and will always be - a small B cup. It's amazing how pregnancy and lactation did not boost my bust, so to speak. ((sigh))

Congrats on nearly 9 months!

They say it's pregnancy that changes breasts rather than breastfeeding. If anything breastfeeding is supposed to minimise the "damage" because you don't usually jsut stop suddenly.

I've never been a member of the IBTC. Quite the opposite. Pregnancy affected them A LOT. I'm kind of surprised at how much to be honest. But never mind, I too have almost made it to 9 months of BFing. And it's worth it :)

hilarious! My sister says she went from a C cup to a J cup (note the shapes of the letters)

What are the odds that my word verification is "taita"? So close...

Oh sweetie, I am right there with you. My girls look like two deflated balloons--its quite sad. On the bright side, they produce a good amount of milk (WOOHOO for 9 months of nursing!!!), but its going to take a lot of money to put them back where they should be. **sigh**

I went from a small C to a DD while pregnant.

And then, even though I didn't BF, I deflated to an A. A saggy one.

Hate to scare you even more :)
